What Drives Me
I’ve always been fascinated by work – the ideology of work, how teams are formed and what makes people stay, grow, and thrive at organisations. After a short stint as a secondary school teacher, I fell into recruitment during the giddy Celtic Tiger years in Ireland. Six years on the agency side led me to in-house talent acquisition, working with high-growth tech firms in the UK and Ireland.
That journey showed me something important: attracting talent is only one part of the challenge, it’s creating the right environment for people to perform and stay. That insight pulled me into strategic HR, where I’ve spent my career helping organisations scale through smart, people-focused strategies. I enjoy supporting organisations to be the best they can be and provide inclusive, thriving work environments where people are productive, the mutual exchange of value is strong, the revenues are strong and people are happy, focused and resilient.
Why I Founded GSD HR
To be frank, I moved to Hong Kong and wanted to create a vehicle where I can make an impact at a variety of organisations and develop my professional network in this very lively and exciting city!
I want to help leaders to move beyond the idea of HR as a back-office function and to bake strategic people planning into the organisation’s commercial strategy. My focus is on aligning people strategy with key business imperatives – whether through organisational design, workforce planning, leadership development, or culture-building.
I bring an agile, commercially grounded approach:
- People above processes
- Outcomes over outputs
- Clarity over complexity
How I Work
Clients describe me as a trusted advisor and strategist. I’m known for asking the tough questions, challenging leaders to think differently, and helping them build the awareness and conditions where talent and performance go hand in hand.
So that GSD-HR delivers excellent results on time and on budget, I partner with carefully selected associates with expertise in HR, Technology and Commercial domains.
For me, work is more than a job – it’s an expression of skill, independence, and potential. Helping organisations unlock that is what drives me.
Life Beyond Work
When I’m not working with clients, I find inspiration in travel, art, and healthy living. Since moving to Hong Kong, I’ve made the most of every opportunity to explore South East Asia.
And in the tougher moments, I take strength from Goethe’s reminder:
“Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”
